Man Down: Modern Warfare lacklustre sales

April 19, 2012 § 1 Comment

Reports have surfaced suggesting that last year’s biggest title: Modern Warfare 3 is struggling with sales.

Though the Call of Duty: Elite service has been massively successful (1.5m members) sales of the game have reportedly fallen since it’s release on November 8th last year. Gamesutra reports that despite it’s strong start sales have fallen to behind where Black Ops was the same time last year. Though no official figures have been release it is believed that the difference is -4.2%.

It has been suggested that this is because of people buying less titles using consoles for other media consumption such as streaming films thanks to Lovefilm and Netflix both being available on Xbox & PS3.

I still haven’t finished playing the campaign for MW3 yet (I know, I know) and I’m horrendous online but I bought it because I prefer the Modern Warfare games to Black Ops (booo hisssss). Did you choose not to but the game? Tweet us @lmProjectGaming and let us know why! Emma said ‘I didn’t buy Modern Warfare because I can’t afford it at the moment, as I don’t play online much the short campaign doesn’t really make it worth the money either.”

Check out the rumours about ‘Iron Wolf’ or Black Ops 2, the new Call of Duty game, expected to be hitting shelves before Christmas here.
